...i am not a stranger to the rain... [Jun. 21st, 2006|10:50 pm]

[music |stranger to the rain - children of eden]

sometimes you stop and look at your life and think "damn, i have good friends"

coming home to a delicious homemade candlelit supper after 4 hours of church choir is one of those times

especially if it is followed by an unusually funny spree of dressing up like the Bush family.

ill post pictures when i get them.

it's raining so i am thinking.

saw pat benatar with kelsey last night

that was fantastic.

i wouldn't mind being a female rock star.

no more school.

no more a lot of things.

i remember prom.

i remember project grad.

i remember beautiful duets.

i remember coldstone creamery.

i remember locking your keys in the car.

i remember tea.

i remember donnie darko.

i remember SoHo.

i remember Rent.

i remember a Madrigal Dinner.

i remember snow day.

i remember hurt feet and random trios.

i remember common grounds too many times.

i remember joss's.

i remember a shelf. and a stool.

i remember fuck me i'm a bitch.

i remember the phantom of the mary harrison.

i remember sunshine. and lollipops.

i remember LCNs.

i remember a blues show.

i remember heartbreak.

i remember sweet notes in my locker.

i remember great gatsby.

i remember strawberries, bananas, kiwis and grapes.

i remember idol nights.

i remember baking.

i remember sinatra.

i remember green goop.

i remember 4 birthday cakes.

i remember fog machines. and fires.

i remember short people.

i remember ladies who lunch.

i remember a terrible fiddler practice.

i remember a new vocabulary.

i remember defying gravity.

i remember pulling through.

i remember arby's.

i remember late night harmonies.

i remember ultimatum.

i remember auditions.

i remember the clang.

and that is what i remember from this year.

[music |the smiths - the boy with the thorn in his side]

"Sunrise, Sunset"

Embers glow bright as the midday sun
Full of passion, Full of life.
Silent and Pristine it stands
Reflecting the excitement it is currently concealing.
A symbolic mirror to a magical world.
The artificial sunset descends
Slowly, methodically
Orchestrated by those magicians in the back
So powerful they can turn the stars out on a whim.
The blackness falls
but unlike its counterpart
So cold and bitter and empty,
It is warm, almost tremoring, burning with an excited fever
Oh! The excitement
The suspense –
Hearts race
full of terror
They beat, pulse at an exhilarating
Full of life, full of passion
The red floats, exposing its heart
The music flows,
Heavenly and celestial.
Reality in all its “glory”
Fades away into nothingness
Until we are in Neverland
Until we fly away to
Free, the shackles crack and fall
Down, down as we ascend
As we approach
Among the clouds,
Among the stars,
Among the heavens,
As we approach true and uninhibited freedom
The cursed sun appears
and we are “home”.

[music |the corrs - no good]

i'll be honest. there are times when I miss england terribly and i would give anything in the world to go back to my old house, my old friends, my old routines.

i know it's not the same now. i know that.

nevertheless i miss the tube stop with the stupid lady saying "mind the gap"

i miss my old friends and how stupid we were

janets barn house where we would hang out

the myriad of fieldtrips

the people at my dad's work whom i loved

the accents

the music

the sights, the excitement, the general enthusiam of the people around me to do something with their lives

i thought that we would be friends forever. i keep in contact with None of them. not one. i have no idea where they are, how they are, what they did with their lives. and they were my best friends.

our tiny kitchen. and the willow tree

i forget about it so much sometimes it feels like a dream. an insane misty dream. if i didn't have so many pictures and scraps i would dismiss it as lunacy. other times i forget i moved and i feel like i stil live there and i will wake up to my green backyard and walk downstairs to watch horrible british tele.

will i ever go back?

does it even matter?

the thing about life is that when one person or one thing or one event really brings you down there are so many people who can bring you up. and it is important to not disregard those people even if they aren't the main focus of your life because you're so involved in your own stupid drama.

thank you guys.

[music |people get ready - eva cassidy]

things i learned from all my sons:

*joss's in annapolis is the bext place for sushi

*sometimes lude rap isn't all that bad

*the bitchiest people usually turn out to be the most sensitive underneath it all

*stage managing is wicked underrated

*good things come to those who wait and work hard

*it's worth the sacrifice

*dominoes and mountain dew IS the ultimate dinner

*it's never too late to get to know somebody

*affectionate people are the best

*those hummels kick ass

*smoothies at ruby tuesdays are good (can you tell we ate a lot?)

*all the drills are color/number coordinated

*its always good to email yourself a copy of lists you type up

*when you're looking for an easel, look for one thats sturdy

*if someone looks unapproachable, approach them

*red curtains are the most beautiful thing ever

*take off gloves before you try to gray someone's hair

*if you're the director, don't fall asleep during practice

*with enough bras, anyone can have bigger boobs

*you should let everyone bow. even if they die at the end of the play.
*don't let anyone tell you your job isn't important

*when taking blocking notes - add diagrams. it makes it way easier

*when in doubt...ask mark

theatre is magical. and those who work at it are the luckiest people in the world.

next stop: MUSICAL!
